Primaloft

We’ve been using and trusting PrimaLoft® insulation in our products for years not only because they are an industry leader in synthetic insulation, but because of their commitment to creating a more environmentally friendly material development process as well as their concern for the lifespan of their product.

PrimaLoft's premium insulations are designed for warmth, softness and lightweight comfort made from post-consumer recycled material. Their ultra-fine fibers are designed to trap warmth to help you remain comfortable and thermally-regulated – from winter to spring. While not technically waterproof, the ultra-fine fiber is inherently hydrophobic and repels water, allowing for quick drying, if exposed to water.

Spyder uses a handful of different variations of PrimaLoft® insulations, all of which are lightweight, packable and very suitable for layering.

Primaloft® Bio™ fibers have been specifically developed to return to materials found in nature, in an effort to reduce the environmental impact of microfibers and garments throughout their life. This new 100 percent recycled, biodegradable synthetic fiber is being used in our Men's Leader Graphene Jacket.

PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Down Blend can be found in our Mens Pinnacle Insulated Jacket and has comparable warmth in construction to 750 fill goose down.

Primaloft® Gold is one of the best synthetic insulators available with a CLO value of 0.92, which is roughly equivalent to the warmth of 500 or 550 fill-power down and achieves 98% thermal efficiency. Made from 55% post consumer recycled material.

Primaloft® Silver Eco is made from 100% post consumer recycled material and has a CLO value of 0.79 and is comparable to 450-fill power down.

Primaloft® Black Eco is made from 100% post consumer recycled material and has a CLO value of 0.65 and is comparable to 350-fill power down.

The notable difference between the Gold, Silver and Black insulations is their CLO value, which is a measurement of resistance to heat loss, with 1 CLO being the amount of insulation needed by a person at rest to remain comfortable in an environment at 21º C / 70º F with no windchill or low humidity.
