X Games 2020 Recap

Another year in Aspen for X Games, and SPYDER_FREESKI showed up in full force. Four SPYDER_FREESKI athletes competed in four events across four days of action in new and classic freeski events.

XGames Knuckle Huck

The action kicked off with a new event, Men’s Ski Knuckle Huck, under the lights on the first night of competition. SPYDER_FREESKI athlete Quinn Wolferman—an X Games rookie—landed in third place when the 30 minute jam-style session came to a close.

XGames Giulia

Friday night hosted the final for Women’s Ski Big Air. SPYDER_FREESKI athlete Giulia Tanno took a pretty gnarly fall in slopestyle practice and was unfortunately unable to compete due to a minor concussion. We are wishing her all the best and a speedy recovery.

SPYDER_FREESKI athlete Maggie Voisin took 6th overall in the Big Air competition. Maggie was found competing in not only one, but two events over the weekend just a short time after her ACL surgery last spring.

XGames Ferdi

Men’s Ski Slopestyle Final was held on Saturday, and SPYDER_FREESKI athlete Ferdinand Dahl dialed in one of the most unique runs of the day. Ferdi pre-qualified for slopestyle finals as last year’s bronze medalist. The open format, jam-style contest lends opportunity for athletes to try a number of different tricks in a more fast-paced environment, and it was widely commended that Ferdi had the most creative skiing of the event. Ferdi, in good spirits, finished 8th overall.

Maggie XGames Bronze

X Games concluded on Sunday, and the final stage for SPYDER_FREESKI saw Maggie Voisin lining up against a heavy field in Women’s Slopestyle Final. Maggie aced each one of her runs and she landed in a well-deserved 3rd place, taking home the bronze medal. Her hard fought comeback from surgery just 9 months ago is beyond heroic and we are glad to see her feeling strong this competition season.

A big congratulations to all athletes! As a fun week at X Games comes to a close, we look forward to additional big events throughout the remainder of the season.
